April to June 2021 at A-Class Driving School

April to June - Post lockdown roundup

Since April 12th driving lessons have been allowed to resume in England from coast to coast. Many students were happy to get back behind the wheel and re-take those cancelled and rescheduled tests due to Covid and lockdowns.  It's been difficult (almost impossible) to book a test however with almost half a million rescheduled tests and an avalanche of learners (some nowhere near ready) snapping up every test available across the country.  It'll probably be years before things return to normal.

This post however looks at the positives at A-Class Driving School that have occurred since lessons got back on track.

Phillipa Summers

Phillipa passes her driving test first time with a-class driving school in avonmouth

Phillipa is a UWE student who loves up in Filton and came to me after a very strange experience with another driving school.  To cut a long story short, after her last instructor got into a fight during a driving lesson, she thought it was time to switch to someone who isn't insane.

Phillipa had a test cancelled as it fell inside lockdown 2.  At least she had somewhere lush to wait things out.  Home for her is Mauritious!

We picked things up 6 months later and in May took her reshedualled test at Avonmouth where she nailed her test and passed first time.

This happened to also make it two years without a single student failing an exam with me.

Danielle Hurford

Danielle also passed her driving test first time after several cancelled tests.

She's another university student, living closer to the city in the Redland area.

Back in October she started taking lessons with me after not having a great time with another driving school.

But on May 24th, between the heavy rain showers, she held herself togther and earned her licence at Avonmouth's test centre.

Scott Wiltshire

Scott was so close to passing his driving test with a perfect score of zero minors back in May, thanks to the excellent tuition of Paul Hanley.  Here's what he had to say about his time with the school.

"I've had Paul as an instructor for just under a year. Despite lessons being disrupted by the pandemic I passed my test today, with only one minor fault! I would recommend A-Class to anyone wanting to learn to drive. Great instructor, attentive, calm and he's a laugh. My girlfriend will be learning to drive soon and we're going with A-Class."

Other successful students

Jamie Walford passed his exam on May 6th with 4 minors under the stewardship of Dave Allenby.

John McNab passed with the help of Jim Walshe.  This is what he had to say about his time with the school. "I had Jim who was the perfect instructor for me and helped me to pass first time. He is kind, reassuring, relaxed, he made learning to drive fun and loves to crack a joke. I learned so much in my time with him and he knew exactly how to get me ready for my test and beyond. I would recommend Jim to anyone."

Franchesca Lundie also passed at Avonmouth with a handful of lessons just before her exam from myself.  Her parents did all the hardwork.  Her mum left this review on Google for us.  "After 3 postponed driving tests due to Covid my daughter was able to get a cancellation in Bristol - the only problem was that all of her driving experience was done in Gloucester!  We found Will online and he had 3 slots he could fit her in before her test.  He immediately put her at ease and in three short lessons gave her so much confidence to believe that she could drive in this unfamiliar and busy area.  The website support is also excellent and my daughter used the resources to really help her get familiar with the area as we were limited to how often we could get into Bristol to practice.  I would not hesitate to recommend Will - he was brilliant and we are really grateful we found him!  Now that she has passed she is keen to do the Pass Plus course with Will."

Lola Mills was very similar, just needing an extra boost of confidence and a professional eye to iron out any kinks in her driving.  She passed too!  Her mum also left a review.  "Will gave my daughter a last minute lesson before retaking her test in an area she’s not driven in before. She said he was an excellent teacher and taught her so much in just one hour. He also helped us afterwards by text and also texted after her test to ask how she did. She passed! Thanks Will. Highly recommended."

This blog post is the first of many online automatic driving lessons. We've had manual ones on the website for over ten years now and we're seeing a big transmission swing towards automatic classes as of late, so thought we'd start producing these for auto drivers.
