A-Class Driving School needs instructors

A-Class Driving School is recruiting!  We're looking to expand our business to keep up with high demand for driving lessons all over Bristol and beyond.  If you're an ADI, PDI or thinking of entering the driving instructor profession, we'd love to hear from you.

Who are we?

A-Class Driving School was founded in 2008 by Will Dracott, who still teaches learners in the north of Bristol in his Fiat 500.  He originally taught in a Mercedes A-Class, hence the name.  A few years after establishing a good reputation for his business, Dave Allenby joined him, mostly teaching in the centre and east of Bristol.

Paul Hanley came along next and specialised in intensive courses, which we get a lot of inquires about.  Justin and Bob came and went to go solo and the space was quickly filled by Richard Miller, who also specialises in intensive courses, mostly in the Kingswood test area.

Finally, Jim Walshe  joined us. He teaches our automatic students in the central and northern parts of Bristol.

We have built an excellent reputation over the years with hundreds of reviews (mostly 5 star) due to our calm, friendly approach in making sure our students aren't put forward for their test too soon, ensuring they're safe drivers for life and not hoping to get lucky on test day.

Currently we do not have any coverage of south Bristol, so this entire area could be yours if you happen to live in that part of the world.

What do we offer?

If you've been looking around and trying to compare franchise options between schools, you'll find it difficult as so many of them conceal how much it costs.  This surely has to the be one of the key pieces of information you'll need before signing up.  We don't hide anything about our franchise deal, which I'm sure you'll think is great.

Let's start off with the price.  It's £50 a week.  Lessons are charged at £33 an hour (£35 for automatic), so it's less than two hours of work.  Nice!

We give our instructors 4 weeks holiday a year where there's no franchise fee to pay.  This seems like twice the amount other schools give, and some don't offer anything at all!  Being self employed and taking a holiday is painful enough without being forced to pay when not earning.

We don't force you to cover your car in decals and transfers. We understand that when not teaching, you don't want to be recognised as a driving instructor 24/7.  Plus, the damage it does to your paint work won't help when selling your car on or handing it back to the leasing company.

We currently receive over 100 inquires a week via phone and email, meaning we could fill your diary instantly.  Most come to us from Google, where we appeared on over 7,000 search results last month and had 13,000 interactions with our business directly from Google.   So, no shortage of clients there.  We don't force you to take on anyone you don't want to, or work anywhere that's too far away.

We won't interfere with your diary, and we give you full control over it.  Online booking systems seem like a great idea, but I like to know who's booking what and when.

We do all the marketing, social media and running of the brand new website ourselves to provide you with the clients.  It's up to you which ones you take and which you decline.

We provide you with an aerodynamic roof box and professional business cards free of charge.

In total, we have over 100 years worth of teaching and ADI experience between us at the school.  Everyone here is very friendly and we're happy to help and answer any questions you have about the industry.  If you're after CPD training or just need to soundboard an idea, we'll help.

Our top notch website provides free driving tutorials for students, a unique selling point.

The first month of your franchise is also free!

What do we ask from you?

We ask when you sign up it's for a minimum of three months.  This covers the costs of things like business cards and time spent altering the website adding your details.  You'll have web presence with A-Class Driving School, you'll not just be a small cog in a giant wheel.

We also ask forone month's notice if you want to leave.

Having your own car makes things easier to get stuck in straight away as an instructor. However, we are able and willing to assist you in finding a lease vehicle if that's your preference.  If you're new to the industry and want to know more about 'leasing v purchasing' and the other pitfalls of becoming an instructor, read last month's blog article here.

This blog post is the first of many online automatic driving lessons. We've had manual ones on the website for over ten years now and we're seeing a big transmission swing towards automatic classes as of late, so thought we'd start producing these for auto drivers.
